Chaos in Northern Israel as Iranian Missile Strikes Leave Death and Destruction

Northern Israel was rocked by a deadly wave of Iranian missile strikes late Saturday, killing at least two people and injuring others. The attacks sparked fires and caused widespread structural damage, especially in the Galilee region. Firefighters and rescue crews worked through the night to save lives and contain the chaos.
A young woman in her 20s lost her life in Tamra, a town in the western Galilee, following one of the missile impacts. This was confirmed early Sunday by Israel’s national emergency medical service, Magen David Adom. Her death was among the first casualties officially reported in the aftermath of the strikes.
One of the worst-hit locations involved a four-story building that partially collapsed after being struck. Fire and rescue teams managed to pull four women from the wreckage, but tragically, two of them died. The upper floor of the building was severely damaged, creating a hazardous scene for rescuers.
Sergeant Yair Elkayim, commander of Israel’s Northern District, described the building as suffering “extensive destruction.” Emergency responders continued searching the ruins on Sunday morning, hoping to find any additional survivors or bodies that may still be trapped beneath the rubble and twisted metal.
Firefighters also responded to other incidents across the region. In one case, a critically injured person was rescued from a damaged building in the Galilee. Israel Fire and Rescue Services said teams were examining nearby sites for further missile impacts that could have gone unnoticed during the night.
Meanwhile, three firefighting crews were dispatched to a burning agricultural facility in the Lower Galilee. Several other fires ignited in open fields and residential areas, posing a serious threat to homes and infrastructure. Firefighters battled multiple blazes while continuing search and rescue operations.
Throughout the night, the Fire and Rescue hotline received a surge of distress calls from residents reporting building collapses, fires, and injuries. Both the coastal and northern districts experienced severe disruption. As Sunday progressed, the full toll of the missile assault was still being assessed, while tensions between Israel and Iran remained dangerously high.
